Richard Gallagher joined Annual Reviews as president and editor-in-chief in May, 2015. The organization’s mission is to synthesize and integrate knowledge for the progress of science and the benefit of society. Recent projects to advance these goals include a digital magazine, which launches at the conference, and opening up our reviews to new audiences. Gallagher has a research background in immunology and has been in science publishing from more than 20 years. This has included periods as a manuscript editor – he was chief biology editor at Nature when the papers describing the sequencing of the human genome was published, and in science journalism – he spent eight years as editor and publisher of The Scientist magazine.
