Biography
Chonnettia Jones is a member of the executive leadership team at Wellcome, an independent global charitable foundation dedicated to improving health through research, policy and engagement with society. She is responsible for assessing the performance of Wellcome’s research portfolio to yield insight into the accomplishments achieved through Wellcome’s funding, activities and strategic partnerships and to identify opportunities to maximize impact. Before taking up this role, she headed the science integration team which managed the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of major science funding initiatives. Prior to joining Wellcome, Chonnettia managed a collaborative scientific research program at the Janelia Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Chonnettia has more than 20 years of experience in biomedical research, science administration and science education. She is a geneticist and developmental biologist by training, having studied neurobiology as a Ruth L. Kirschstein research fellow at Emory University and worked as a lecturer at American universities.
