Biography
Argentine paleontologist Sebastián Apesteguía serves as chief of paleontology at the Natural History Foundation Félix de Azara (Maimónides/CONICET). He has led more than 30 paleontological campaigns in Patagonia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Hungary and France. He is known for the discovery of the carnivorous Gualicho shinyae, Buitreraptor gonzalezorum, Ligabuesaurus leanzai, a legged snake fossil named Najash rionegrina and the fossil of a Cronopio dentiacutus, an extinct mammal with a superficial resemblance to the fictional character Scrat in the film Ice Age.
