Biography

Ángela Posada-Swafford is a Colombian-American science journalist, lecturer and author of science and adventure novels for young adults 8-14. She has been writing stories on astrophysics, space, the poles, geology, oceanography, genetics, paleontology, the environment, and exploration for 25 years for all media platforms, digital, print and broadcast, in Spanish and English. She collaborates with NASA, ESA, ESO, the NSF and many more organizations to accompany scientists in the field, writing for Muy Interesante magazines, Scientific American, WIRED, Astronomy, Discovery Channel, and National Public Radio. She received the Knight Fellowship in Science Journalism at MIT in 2000, and has served as blogger in three expeditions Antarctic/South Pole expeditions. Recently she started working with the Colombian government’s Colciencias, identifying and popularizing valuable research, taking difficult concepts to lay audiences through lectures, school visits, and a planned series of science shows.
