Biography
Ivan Oransky previously was executive editor of Reuters Health and held editorial positions at Scientific American and The Scientist. He is the recipient of the 2015 John P. McGovern Award for excellence in biomedical communication from the American Medical Writers Association. He and Adam Marcus founded Retraction Watch in 2010. The site, now viewed by 150,000 people per month, has chronicled the continuing rise in scientific retractions, and has been cited often in the scientific literature as a source for a better understanding of the true reasons for retraction. The pair also have a weekly column in STAT, a Boston Globe Media publication, called The Watchdogs. Oransky has written for numerous other publications, including Nature, The New Republic, and The New York Times. He is also a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the New York University School of Medicine and serves on the board of directors and as vice president of the Association of Health Care Journalists.
