Biography

Nora Bär began working as a science writer in the 1980s. In 1990, she became a staff member of La Nación. In 2000, she created the newspaper´s daily science section that lasted until 2011.

She has been the editor of the book series on science Qué es…?, by Editorial Paidós, and author of Viceversa (Malas Palabras Buks, 2009), De la probeta a los genes. Historia de una epopeya argentina (Foro argentino de biotecnología) and Gente brillante (Malas Palabras Buks, 2016).

She has been a visiting professor at several universities in her country and abroad, and has received many awards for science journalism and science writing. In 2002, she was elected as a member of Argentina´s National Academy of Journalism.

Currently, she is La Nación´s columnist on science and health, anchor of “Conversations,” a series of talks with researchers and physicians aired by LN+, and host of “El Arcón”, a radio program about science, health and technology (FM Radio Cultura). She also conducts a monthly “science cafe” of the National Academy of Natural Sciences (www.ancefn.org.ar).
