The Life Science Entrepreneur’s Journey

It does all start with an idea, but how you get from Idea to commercialization? The road is often filled with potholes and sharp turns. The overall time frame is long while important decisions need to be made early on. The journey from selecting your team and focus to funding and FDA approval requires careful consideration and a strong ability to adapt. We will hear from JLABS companies that have started this journey and learn about their successes, struggles and questions.

Moderator: Lesley Stolz, Head of JLABS CA | Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS

Innovator Inquiry: Why, When, and How to Partner with Large Healthcare Companies?

For entrepreneurial life sciences innovators, one path to commercialization is to license technology to, or be acquired by, a large pharmaceutical, medical device, or consumer health company. But such partnerships are not without risks and tradeoffs, and innovative entrepreneurs ask themselves many questions along the way—as do their potential partners.

We will take a candid, inside look at such partnerships, both from the view of the entrepreneur and of a large healthcare partner, and will address some of the less obvious considerations. We will discuss what makes for a successful deal and how to increase the odds of a win-win.
