DOWNLOADABLE GUIDE TO SUNDAY EVENTS

Registration is required. This tour will be offered twice.

Come to Genentech Hall, considered the biotech heart of the Mission Bay campus, to see the latest scientific tools in action. Visit the Center for Advanced Technology, founded by UCSF all-star Joe DeRisi as a public resource for scientists around the Bay Area, which allows researchers to access the latest gene-sequencers, medical-grade 3D printers, robotic ultra-high-resolution microscopes, and more.

In addition, explore the UCSF Cryo-Electron Microscopy facility, from which UCSF’s David Agard and Yifan Cheng have been rapidly the study of protein structures over the past five years. Learn how new innovations by the UCSF team have revitalized the decades-old cryo-EM technique, which involves imaging flash-frozen proteins  with electron beams, making it possible for researchers to crack dozens of previously unsolvable protein structures and visualize their dynamic interactions at near-atomic resolution.

Choose one tour: 2:15 – 3:30 pm or 4:00 – 5:15 pm.
