Biography
Abbey Alkon is an investigator at the UC Berkeley Center for Environmental Research and Children’s Health and director of the UCSF California Childcare Health Program. She received her Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, and her M.P.H. and M.S.N. at Columbia University. Alkon is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and epidemiologist with over 20 years of clinical and research experience in the fields of pediatrics, public health, and epidemiology. Her research, which aims to understand how the social and physical environment affects children’s health and development, is community-based and focuses on low-income, underserved populations of children, using multi-level and comprehensive measures of the environment, physiology, and health.
