Prior to becoming managing editor of Sapiens, an online magazine covering anthropology and archaeology for a popular audience, in May 2015, Amanda Mascarelli spent more than a decade as a freelance science journalist. She has written about oil spills, autism, the neuroscience of magic, the biological complexity of sex and gender, and many other topics.
