Biography

Betsy Mason is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and covers science and cartography. She is co-author of the blog All Over the Map at National Geographic. She was a 2015-2016 Knight Science Journalism fellow at MIT. Previously, she was a senior editor at Wired magazine in charge of online science coverage and founder of the Wired Science Blogs network. She also worked as the science and national laboratories reporter at the Contra Costa Times, where she won the AGU’s David Perlman award for her coverage of earthquake risk in the Bay Area. Betsy has a master’s degree in geology from Stanford University and completed the Science Communication Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
