Biography

Eva Emerson is the editor of a new digital science magazine at Annual Reviews, the scholarly publisher. Previously, she served as Editor in Chief of Science News magazine and website, where she was instrumental in the transition to the digital space. She practiced science communication in various media for more than 20 years, starting her career at the Magic School Bus television show with stops at the Honolulu Weekly newspaper, the California Science Center, the University of Southern California and, beginning in 2007, at Science News. A graduate of UC Santa Cruz’s Science Communication program, she studied biology and worked in a lab before switching to full-time writing. She’s fascinated by all of science, the people who do it, and how to better inform the general public about how science works.
