Biography

After completing a Ph.D. in theoretical particle physics, Richard Buttery began working as a scientist in plasma physics for fusion energy. He started at the UK National Lab at Culham Science Center, where he worked in UK devices as well as the Joint European Torus. In 2009, he came to the USA to join the DIII-D research program, the US’s largest magnetic fusion research facility.
