Sibusiso Biyela, one of this year’s student travel fellows, brought a South African perspective to a panel on the decolonization of science 27 October at the World Conference of Science Journalists.

The panel also featured journalist and professor Javier Cruz Mena, from Mexico, university lecturer Nolwazi Mkhwanazi, from South Africa, and freelance science journalist Padma Tata Venkata, from India.
They discussed how even spelling can show bias in science communication.
